Granny flats can be built as stand-alone, semi-detached, or attached structures. Granny flats, like many dual occupancies, share the same address as the main home. They are often built for parents or to use as a home office.

Unlike dual occupancy homes and granny flats, duplexes and townhouses are two separate private dwellings. They can be sold with separate titles or together, under the one title. If you want two separate homes (and two separate incomes), opt for single or double-storey duplexes (or townhouses).
